Guest Lecture on Physics

On 7th of November 2016 , a guest lecture was organized by our Physics teacher . The lecture was delivered by Dr. Tirumala Rao Bitra , Senior scientist at CAT (Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology), Indore. He did his PHD in applications of lasers and also specialises in it. The lecture was conducted on the topic application of lasers. He briefed us about the concept of lasers and how it is used in different places. He also told us about his personal achievements in the very same field. It was an enlightening session as he shared real life experiences and told the students about the importance of being a great thinker. He said that great thinkers only become great scientists. Moreover he motivated all of us to work for our national welfare and become great thinkers one day.

 

Furthermore, he explained us how lasers are built for cutting thick sheets of iron. We also discussed upon a very interesting topic that whether light is a wave in nature of a particle, this topic also linked to our TOK discussion in the class. The session was really inspiring, where we learnt about aspects like why you should be a critical thinker and how we can contribute to the progress of our nation without necessarily standing on the borders. It was a learning and interactive session for all of us where he answered all the queries put up by us and encouraged us to take up the field as our future prospect.
