Skype session for CAS

20th January, 2017

On 20th January, we had a wonderful Skype session where, Aaditya Sahu, the Deputy Head Boy of our school and Nidhi Polekar, the Chief Designer of our school magazine had a very interesting and informative  session with the students and CAS coordinator of the Trivandrum International School under the guidance of CAS coordinator. It was a very good collaboration wherein the teachers and students interacted on several domains. Questions and Answers along with new ideas were exchanged.
The session started off with introductions which led to a comfortable conversation between the students. It started with the basic questions in which the students of both the schools exchanged all the activities initiated. The students of TIS informed us that they had initiated a long term project which will last for two years. Every Wednesday, all the students go to a government school to teach English to the students. Our students aptly explained the difference between Learner Profiles and Learning Outcomes to the students of TIS and it was really good to know that our students are at par with other IB students.
They asked us about our activities to which we replied by listing down the CAS activities (which include but not limit to: The Tourism project, the monthly visits to Jyoti Niwas, an old age home, Blind School and Pipliya Rao Village, CAS fundraising activities etc).
We exchanged the procedures to maintain a CAS profile, the types of CAS forms they have and the CAS interviews they conduct. It was a very informative session in which we got to know how other international schools conduct and perform CAS in DP.
TIS invited us for another Skype session soon so that we can work collectively towards a greater cause, which we would be delighted to attend.
Eventually, I would like to thank the institute for giving me and my students the platform to collaborate and learn.
