Language is a very essential part in the evolution of mankind. It’s the only tool which allows two people to interact and share their feelings, thoughts and ideas. It is the only thing because of which we are able to achieve so much advancement in our life. Different societies generated and developed different languages throughout time. Fortunately, our ancestors also gifted us with a very exquisite language, Hindi. Hindi is a very prosperous language, consisting of many different words from diversified languages and cultures. Every person who speaks Hindi feels proud to know such an ornamental language. And this year at our school Choithram International, its gratification and honour was increased by the students addressing different attributes of Hindi, performing different traditions and carrying the language with pride, in the form of Hindi Diwas, to mark the day, 14th September, hailing Hindi as the

National Language of India.

The event started by the introduction to the glorious aspects and history of the language. After that, the four Houses of the school participated and competed on a platform of debate on the topic ‘Bacchon ke saath kathor vyavhar uchit hai’(Should children be treated with harsh behaviour or not) Both the sides for and against were presented by different substantive perspectives which made the contest extremely exciting.

The best part which was immensely enjoyed was ‘Nukkad Naatak’ (Street Play). Nukkad Naataks are generally performed in order to spread awareness throughout the society about the unethical or bad scenarios and happenings which seeks change. The issue which participants took was addressing some basic issues in the community such as child marriage, gender inequality, corruption and illiteracy. The students performed it with characteristics of fruitfulness and fun, making the event a success.

Enthusiastic participation of parent community was the icing on the cake. They not only acted as judges for the debate but also expressed their views on the topic, thereby enlightening the audience.

We as Indians are proud of our national language and look forward to its acceptance as a medium of communication not only throughout India but the world around.
