Enlightening the Soul

24th October, 2016

On 21.10.2016, the faculty of the school attended a talk by Hemarupa Caitanya Dasa. He emphasized on the fact that ‘Being happy’ is the primary reason for our existence in life.

How do we draw in happiness?

It is difficult as our mind is child-like with internal and external negativity affecting it. Today negativity surrounds us in the form of media. To overcome the effect of such negativity, we need to have a connection with: Aatma-tatva.When we seek help from within, we can come out of the quicksand of negativity.

Is satisfaction of primary importance?

We have no control over many occurrences that happen after we have satisfied ourselves at a base level. For instance, our greed to eat food that may not be easily digestible. We need to discern whether we require it or not before imbibing it. This is discretion of a kind, that is, choosing not to accept any negative aftermath.

How we present ourselves, matters to impressionable minds?

Our students are easily influenced by observing the adults behavior around them. Hence, we need to portray strong characters for them to emulate.  If the focus is on building strong characters, the negativity that surrounds them will not touch them in any way. This can be done by drawing them towards our ancient scriptures...Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Talk delivered by him to the students on 24.10.2016.

All of us admire Superheroes like Superman, Batman, Supergirl, etc. In the process, we start emulating them and forget that we are not them. This distorts our personality.

We need to remember to have originality by developing our own personality. This helps us to be unique. To do this, we need to tap our inner strength. This can be done by reading our scriptures of ancient times which relates to many situations even today.
