CHOITHRAM INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY GUIDANCE COUNSELLING

 

A strong University Guidance cell is a hallmark of any premier IB World School. Keeping with the high expectations of an International school, Choithram International has an established and diverse university and career counselling committee, which proactively aids students in their exploration and their subsequent focus on universities across the world according to their interests, abilities, values and personal characteristics.

 

Career counselling sessions begin in MYP to help students choose appropriate subjects. Various assessment tools and psychometric tests are conducted to enable students to grasp their potential and interests. Based on those results, students along with their parents are counselled for choosing the subject combination best suited for the student.

 

CI University Counselling Committee is responsible for advising and assisting Diploma Programme students in their university selection and applications. The process is owned by CI’s University Guidance Counsellor (UGC). The objectives of the UGC along with the Committee to help students make informed decisions about university choices to provide advice and guidance to students in choosing appropriate university courses to advise and support students during the university application process.

 

Students and parents are also advised to attend University Admissions seminars that are held in school and outside school also.

 

The All India University (AIU) rates IB Diploma Programme at par with class XII CBSE or ICSE. IB issues mark sheets in addition to grades, so that the admission process in any Indian University is straightforward and hassle- free.

 

To aid this process, university admissions officers and government officials of all reputed national universities have direct online access to all the syllabi and recent examinations. Students applying to a particular university may also grant permission for their grades to be accessed directly from the IB’s secure website.

 

CI has collaborated with internationally well-known university placement companies – Naviance and Univariety, for career counselling. Naviance portal helps students take psychometric tests to explore themselves. Using these portals, students can explore universities, courses and their eligibility criteria. Students can also apply through Common App for US universities, and through UCAS for UK universities. Naviance provides the application service for both UCAS and Common App.

 

CI students of our school are studying in top universities of the world. The IBDP batch of 14-16 has received offers from leading universities like Oxford University, London School of Economics, University of Waterloo, Michigan State University, University of British Columbia and University of Illinois.
