Introducing Extended Essay

"Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all." -Aristotle

And here we are introduced to one of the most challenging, fascinating and knowledgeable part of the Diploma Programme: The Extended Essay. Extended Essay, which is a core component along with TOK and CAS in IBDP, and is a descriptive research based essay in which we choose the topic of our interest from any of the chosen subjects. This core component helps us in developing many of the essential skills such as research, critical thinking, analysis, inquiring and evaluating. This also helps us in facing future challenges in the universities. It is going to be extremely helpful in future as it will provide a base for our future research projects. It also signifies the intellectual understanding of all the IB learner profiles.

The orientation for DP1 students took place in the month of March, and we choose our subjects, topics and framed the Research Questions. In that, we were told a lot of essential points to remember such as the assessment criteria, methods of research, academic honesty and proper format. So far, this IBDP EE Journey has been totally enthralling and knowledgeable. We hope that this enthusiastic interest fulfils our inquisitiveness of exploring the world around us.
